Winona Local Activity & Resource Map
Submitter:
Kennedy Pierre-Toussaint
Company:
Winona State University
Concept/Purpose of the Work:
Each year the campaign class sets up a booth at the Major fair on campus. Creating a whole new brand identity and collateral material based around it. Our group, Desipy(Design Therapy), was in charge of creating the brochures for this year's fair. We had the idea of coming up with a map of Winona to be placed on the back side of the brochure as a poster. We wanted to create something for students that would be functional but also loaded with information that would be important to them. To create the Winona Local Activity & Resource Guide we split the work between all of us, Xin, Jordan and Kennedy were responsible for creating the identifying graphics for locations and the buildings to match with them. Ken was in charge of the layout of the map, along with this he did all identifying marks features including three of the graphics for the big landmarks. Within a span of a week this project was thought out, planned and executed in a timely manner, many hours were put in by each of us to get this project done. Ken put in the most hours on making sure everything on the layout of the map was correct and a perfect match to the actual map of Winona. On the night before the fair as a group we stayed in the lab until 10:30pm to finish production for the fair. Overall we put in a lot of time into this project and ended with a project that we collectively as a group are very proud of.
Results of the Work:
This map was a big hit with students on campus and we are still currently handing them out at club fairs. We have had many compliments on the map along with staff at Winona wanting to use this map, details are still being figured out.
How the Work Was Delivered to the Masses:
We as a group produced everything in lab and handed these out first at the Major Fair to students who are interested in joining the design program and others in the Art Department. This coming weekend for Winona State is Homecoming (October 9th), we intend to continue to hand these out at the AIGA tables.
