Concept/Purpose of the Work:
Three Days on Callisto is a board game that is authored by Karl Roe and designed by Hannah Edwards. It is a complex game with multiple moving parts. Read more below on its theme and objective!
A day on Callisto, the fourth of Jupiter’s four large “Galilean” moons, lasts 17 Earth days. A lot can get done in three days on Callisto! Since the moon’s initial colonization a few generations ago humans have built an impressive base in the vast Valhalla crater. But while they’ve established what they need in order to survive and explore, the colonists of Callisto long for the luxuries that those still on Earth take for granted. Three Days on Callisto lets you control an ambitious group of new arrivals. Your goal is to earn Victory Points by producing the not-so-essential goods that your clients in Valhalla City desire. Along the way you will try to improve your faction’s farming, transportation, and robotics capabilities, allowing you to accomplish more in those precious three days. Building productive structures in the various craters of the moon will not only net you Victory Points but also give you access to their goods and technologies. But don’t get too comfortable in a crater or you’ll end up spending a long and unproductive night there! Will your faction have the most Victory Points at the end of Three Days on Callisto?
Results of the Work:
Results pending.
Entry note: The design of this project started in June of 2020.
We have printed initial prototypes used for play testing and are working on launching a kickstarter campaign in the hopes of being able to mass produce. So far it has been positively received both in terms of strategy and aesthetics.
How the Work Was Delivered to the Masses:
It is currently in its initial prototype phase, which has been used at board game play-testing conventions at different locations in the US.
