Concept/Purpose of the Work:
Synthesis utilizes the way the viewer perceives multisensory and synesthetic experiences in order to tap into their existing memories and associations while simultaneously creating new memories and associations through time, space, interaction, and technology. Through this, graphic design is pushed beyond its normal unisensory visual pathway. The desired result is a more effective and therefore more memorable form of design. The exhibition is composed of 4 sections that move from analogue to digital while incorporating a different combination of senses at each stage.
Results of the Work:
This project was originally conceived as a physical exhibition but had to be adapted to a digital format due to COVID-19. The result of the work is an interactive video and web experience that walks the viewer through the exhibition using 3D renders of what the space and experience were intended to feel like.
How the Work Was Delivered to the Masses:
The work was delivered to the masses on the University of fMinnesota's senior thesis exhibition website https://gdform2020.com/.
