Concept/Purpose of the Work:
New York Institute of Technology (aka New York Tech) is a distinguished university in Old Westbury, New York. The NYIT athletic department is a member of the East Coast Conference, competing in NCAA D-II Athletics. The Bears' brand needed a refresh to represent the school's vision better and inspire engagement with the fans, athletes, and alumni. The client described the existing Bears identity as "dated" and "not memorable and even laughable." The brand refresh includes a fierce new mascot. Go Bears! The refined color palette and custom wordmark unify the athletic department brand with the brand of the University.
Results of the Work:
The goal was to help attract and recruit top talent in athletics and academics and elicit elevated school spirit. Daniel Vélez, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, said: "The new brand exceeds our expectations and resonates deeply with alumni, students, and fans."
How the Work Was Delivered to the Masses:
The identity is alive in social media, spiritwear worn proudly by students, uniforms for men's and women's sports teams, and facility branded signage.
