Concept/Purpose of the Work:
Establishing branded signage for Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhoods and Districts to create community and togetherness for a city that needs it now more than ever. With increased signage identifying each Neighborhood and District, people can feel more confident coming Downtown and know that people live here and this is their home. The design goal was not only to create community, but also create something that has mass appeal, accessibility, and would complement each Neighborhood and District while still standing out. The signage also promotes education of the surrounding areas to visitors who might not know where they are and helps local businesses thrive and drive traffic to their Neighborhood.
Results of the Work:
Prior to this, there was no signage in downtown Minneapolis dictating which Neighborhood or District you were in. Visitors and residents had no indication of where they were. The Neighborhood and District signage solves this problem. The signage also gave each Neighborhood and District branding, economic development, community strength, and increased tourism.
How the Work Was Delivered to the Masses:
The signage was delivered to the masses by being installed on lamp posts/street lights in over 100 locations in Downtown Minneapolis. A press release was also sent out to local news stations.
